Whew, three gigs in a month combined with some computer problems and, oh yea, life have made for a very busy Shane recently. With all of the shows I’ve had over the summer I’ve basically gotten no work done on the album and I am eager to get back to it. Now with the weather turning shitty (I hate fall, hate it) I will be able to justify being inside more and spending too much time in front of a computer. I’m probably done with gigs for the year.
I am really looking forward to getting the album done and moving on to ‘The Forest, pt:2’. And then I want to try to get some collaborations done. Plus I already have ides for the next two albums after that. None that includes the ideas I have for perhaps getting back in to music with vocals.
Life is pretty good.
The recent Blood Super Moon brought back the memory of a song I wrote about the death of River Phoenix called ‘Shooting Stars’. I wrote the lyrics the night of another lunar eclipse shortly after he died. I was sampling from the movie Sneakers and was thinking a lot about him. You can hear it on my Soundcloud Page.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at my gig on Oct 1 at The Rock Shop. I had posted I was on at 9:30, this has been changed to 9:00 so don’t be late. Hopefully I won’t be!
Funny story, last week I was performing at Warper Party and thought I was on at 9:30. Ok, cool, I’ll get to the place at 9:00. Well….I was supposed to be on at 9:00. I’ve never set my gear up faster and most of it worked!
I’ve posted a new track to my Soundcloud page. Take a listen!
I’m performing at the annual Electro-Music Conference in Huguenot, NY. This is a really good event with lots of talent and just all around good people. I go on Saturday at 8:30.
On September 16th I’ll be participating in the Warper Party, I go on at 9:30. Warper has been such a huge help for my developing the redgreenblue live show and can’t stress enough the value it adds to the NYC electro-music scene.
And lastly (and this is a big one that I need people to come out to) is October 1 at The Rock Shop. I’m not exactly sure what time I go on, probably around 8:00.
Work on the album got slowed down by the motorcycle trip and getting ready for these gigs but it is continuing. I am desperate to get it out by the end of the year. It is going to be a good album.
Here is the video of my Kutztown Planetarium show. I played the songs:
The Romance of the Rail
and an aborted attempt at SOS Waltz. But for the 1st time ever I had a show stopping computer issue.
Many thanks to Steve Mokris for the outstanding visuals, Dale Parsons for the event and Robert Dorschal for the equipment loan and carting my keyboard. And to my wife for being super supportive and generally wonderful.
I’m performing Wed 6/24 at the Warper Party. The Warper Party is a wonderful event that is sadly too much of a secret in NYC. None of the ‘cool kid’ sites (looking at you BrooklynVegan) seem to give a shit about it, which is a shame because Warper always has creative artists and is a great scene. Come out, enjoy!

Here is a shot of my performance at the Kutztown Planetarium. It was a fun event, my set went well until it didn’t. On my last song I had a show stopping computer issue, the first one I’ve ever had in 10 years of using a computer on stage. Ultimately it was my own fault, I typically test the heck out of a set before I play it and I changed the way that I launch songs without being able to test it multiple times. I’ll figure it out.
Check out the video here and while you are there take a look at some of the other videos, it was a weekend of really good music.
Electro-Music Asheville is over and it was a wonderful experience. It was nice to run in to old friends, make new ones and hear lots of great music. I’m pleased with my performance (which isn’t always the case) but unfortunately my recorder failed so I have to wait for the video to become available before I can hear what I did. But lots of nice things were said and I seemed to have the crowd’s attention. Many thanks to Robert Dorschel for the equipment loan that allowed me to get to the gig on motorcycle, a nice and long trip, much needed after the long winter without riding. Now I begin prepping for the Electro-Music event in Kutztown PA. That is in a planetarium, and that should be fun. I have in mind what I want to perform but am not quite sure I’ll have it ready in time. If not then I’ll probably do what I did last weekend.
The weekend was a marred by a death in my family, I am grateful that I was able to change my plans a bit to be able to see my nieces.
The riding was wonderful, I had a couple of very long days but it was nice to get on the bike and take smaller roads
